Judy's Story
Life
I've been in Colorado since 1978, and moved to Jax with my husband, Pat, in 2001. Our children--2 girls, 1 boy--are 31, 39 and 36, all married and in L.A., Boulder and Atlanta. Oldest, Hadley, in CO, has two sons, ages 6 and 4, a 2 year-old daughter and a newborn daughter. They're absolutely the light of our lives. After years in health care mgmt, I started a design/remodel firm in 1987, mostly doing kitchen/bath projects now. I have great memories of McCarty High--we were so fortunate for those years in FP!
What a great education we received! I've never forgotten, and will forever be thankful for Mrs. Taylor, Mr. Hurst, Mr. Koons, Mr. Dartnell, Mrs. Petterson, Ms. Wilkerson, especially, and even Mrs. Henning, who could have gotten along without me and Bob Baughman in her class, I'm sure. I didn't apply myself in "Lawwy Hawwis"'s chemistry class, but knew that he was a truly dedicated teacher. Even the ones whom I really didn't like were a positive influence on me, reminding me of all of my failings.

n international life and studied three foreign languages in HS and college, adding a fourth (Russian) at Emory, and started Japanese studies, too, in Denver. Although we've traveled abroad a lot, my kids are the ones who have covered the globe, and I have loved seeing the world thru their experiences. We are all going "over the hill", tho', aren't we? So I am hoping to still find a way to live in Europe for a 6-month stint, fairly soon.
Going to Emory in Atlanta was a huge blessing, too--heady days in the center of a changing world. I'd go back to school there in a heartbeat, if I could.
I have enjoyed our temporary tenure in Jax and being close enuf to visit south Florida frequently, especially to see Faye Brown McCulley. I hope to be a sailor by the time we leave here! We'll be back home in Colorado by 2011. We love the outdoor life, summer and winter--come join us for a snowy backpacking trip or whitewater kayaking in the summertime. The elk herd and their babies were in our yard there when I left last month. (Aug, 2009).
