Judy's Story

Life After graduating from high school I attended one year of CEGEP and then moved to Winnipeg with my family. There I attended the University of Manitoba and obtained a degree in Foods, Nutrition and Dietetics. Then I moved to Victoria (BC) to do my dietetic internship. After I worked as a Dietitian in Kamloops (BC) for a few years. Next I moved back to Montreal with my husband and worked as a Consultant in Community Nutrition. Several years later we moved to Mississauga (Ont)with our two sons (now aged 18 and 16). I have also obtained a Masters Degree in Adult Education and am working full time as a Dietitian and Certified Diabetes Educator. My husband is a CA working for a large firm in the tax department. My parents have since retired to Kelowna (BC) which we visit often. Next year my oldest son is off to University (Bishops in Lennoxville) and he is majoring in business. school before he graduates. In my spare time I like to read, watch movies, do yoga and spend time with friends. Thats my life in a nutshell since high school. Judy Workplace I work as a Dietitian in a Diabetes Education Centre in a Community Hospital (my education is in Foods, Nutrition, Dietetics and Adult Education), I love my job as it allows me to help people. I am also involved in various research projects and present at conferences, meetings and community events. I also have experience with radio, television and the print media. I volunteer with my professional associations on various committees and boards. I enjoy teaching and helping my clients manage their diabetes. Back in High School I never thought I would be working in such an exciting field. I have had the opportunity to attend conferences through out Canada and the USA. Everyday is a new challenge and I learn much from my clients and coworkers. Judy
