Judy's Story

Since graduating from HH in 1976, I have been fortunate enough to live in and experience two of the most exquisite areas of Northwestern Michigan - the Spring Lake/Grand Haven/Holland region for 5 years, and Traverse City since 1986! The year after moving to TC I was blessed with a son, Nicholas, now 23, from my first marriage of 12 1/2 years. After 8 full years of single-hood, I met the "love of my life" AND "every woman's dream & then some", in June 2001. We married just 6 months later. Unfortunately, immediately after uniting as one, this relationship went from heavenly bliss to hell on earth and dissolved just short of 3 years. Since Thanksgiving of 1989, I have lived in the same soon to be 62-year-old up-north summer cottage that was added onto and upgraded with heat in 1968. Beechwood Cliff is a seasoned but quaint subdivision of just 15 homes on a quiet rural cul-de-sac. Six of these residences sit along a bluff overlooking East Grand Traverse Bay of Lake Michigan. Beechwood Cliff is located just 10 miles north of downtown Traverse City and six miles South of Elk Rapids, but only 1 mile from LochenHeath, a prestigious, guard gated waterfront golf community that is under development in what has been called "America's Summer Golf Capital", the first private residential development (644 acres) of its kind in the Midwest. In addition, Beechwood Cliff is less than three miles from the renowned Grand Traverse Resort in Acme. My little piece of paradise consists of a 3 bedroom, 1 bath, 1,650 sq. foot flat roofed L-shaped ranch house with floor to ceiling glass windows that overlook East Grand Traverse Bay. My home sits on an almost two-acre park-like parcel with over 50 White Birch, a dozen mature Blue Spruce, and countless Beech, Maple, and even a few Ironwood trees, plus it has a detached two-plus-two car garage. It is situated on the back corner of the largest lot in Beechwood Cliff and is accessed on the curve of the road allowing for total bay/f...Expand for more
ront yard privacy! The summer water view is good, but the fall, winter and spring view is grand. Beechwood Cliff property owners share a rare jewel of exceptional 200 feet of extremely private sugar sand beach on East Grand Traverse Bay of Lake Michigan. For over 20 years I have been blessed to have the best of the best - my own little far away exotic paradise right under my feet - an extremely private sugar sand beach, sunshine, lounge chair(s), lapping water, bonfires, incredible sunsets, and for the time being, peaceful serenity. Night after night I have the luxury of enjoying what many people spend lots-a-time and green on flying or driving sometimes up to thousands of miles to experience. In addition, my bay view front yard is like a mini game reserve, wildlife galore! Birds of all sizes, shapes and colors, so many squirrels it sometimes takes both hands and toes to count, a new litter of raccoons each spring, deer and turkey on and off all year long, occasional rabbits and fox, pesky chipmunks, moles, and gophers, and on many midday afternoons Bald Eagles soaring. Beechwood Cliff is where my son, Nicholas, grew up...cherished memories over all those years are endless treasures. Beechwood Cliff has become a haven where I retreat with Nicholas' dog, Shadow, a 10 year old Golden Retriever. I am no longer just Shadow's master; we have become best friends. With an infectious smile I am active, determined, vivacious, kind-hearted, playful, loyal, committed, sensible, spontaneous, and spiritual. Intimate conversation, theatre of the arts, kayaking, dancing, dinning out, and weekend travels are my passions. Shared time with close friends, family, working out, and my church are essential elements of my life too. I love to visit the city yet desire to live in up-north tranquility. I am in awe of His creation and appreciate quietness, nature, and the outdoors. From leggings to sequins or silk suits to swim suits, I desire diversity and strive to live it!
