Judy's Story

Life Raised four kids as a single Mom and have 14 grandkids... and two great grandsons and a greatgrandgirl, Isabella Joi, born my birthday month, February 2010. Expecting another great grandson, Liam, around Christmas! 18 grands soon! Worked for an aerospace company for 25 years as Exe. Asst. to President and numerous other titles, mostly in computer technology and personnel dept. School Biggest crush was Elvis Presley, Marlon Brandon, Marilyn, Tarzan, Esther Williams! Three teachers inspired me the most... Mr. Thorpe who said whatever I do after high school I must go into theater, Mr. Yoder who said he could easily get me an art scholarship and Mr. Treadway, my college sculpture instructor! And the best teacher... computer studies! College Made a 20 ft by 12 ft high ugly sculpture with my classmates that sorta looked like a shark or wave with crawl in holes. Had my 3 young daughters help us and we went home in a convertible with plaster from one end to the other on us. It was so much fun. We had it moved onto campus and the students hated it and wanted it moved. The student body came out one night with sledge hammers and tried to destroy it. We called the cops and they stopped the destruction and the sculpture class instructor promised he would have it moved. He had to talk the crane company that moved it for free to move it for free again after we found a child care place that wanted it. The kids absolutely loved it. The students on campus were happy. So much ado about a simple, rather oversized sculpture. See sculpture photos below. Workplace Worked for Contour Aerospace in Personnel, Assistant to CFO's, and EXE. Asst. to the President... started on computers in 1982 ... a God Send to Government contract typing and did database programming for the personnel dept! Watched a brilliant young man bring an aerospace business up to be very successful and made me laugh at all his shenanigans!!!! Like he sent black wilted roses to a lawyer that didn't show up for a meeting nor called... then found out his father had passed away and t...Expand for more
hat is why he missed the appt. Military Marching through puddles and rain, living in barracks with great friends, the first year Hawaiians came into the U.S. Air Force, the hula's, a Christmas tree covered in Kleenex carnations, decorating all the Mess Halls by myself, working in the Green Monster from 7:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. and then teaching Senior Life Saving & swimming in the afternoon to the WAFS, sweating in Texas (San Antonio) humidity, getting restricted on the weekends & sneaking out the barrack's windows anyway to go to San Antonio to the Aztec Theater, the river through town, standing in parades feeling like passing out due to humidity! Silver tan uniforms on slim bodies!!! Talking to the Pentagon each day for their quota for personnel assignments to the different bases and going through the Green Monster during basic training, being spotted by male personnel and immediately assigned there. I joined the Air Force to see the world and all I saw was Texas. Now, Bandera, Texas was fun! Got branded there! Took hops to get to Virginia, went all over southern U.S. getting stranded in New Orleans once because of rain storms and was assigned to babysit a drunk old Colonel for four days by the Captain (pilot of the C-119)! Got stranded in Delaware once and the officers on board put me into the VIP headquarters with personal room service. On one hop, the wing caught on fire from lightning and we all prepared to jump laced up in our parachutes. Thirty male Lieutenants were on board and they said together, "Ladies first"! The rain put out the fire and everything was okay so I got to fly the C-119 sitting in the Captain's seat. In all, the Air Force was great!! I went through during the cold war so never was threatened to go fight a war... but I would have... very patriotic, I am... but now scared of chemicals used by both sides! After reading this, I believe I was in the other Army that Judy Benjamin thought she joined... the one with the yachts and condos...(funny movie with Goldie Hawn called Judy Benjamin or Private Benjamin, I think)!
