Judy's Story

I currently drive a school bus for Mason City Schools. It is a great job! Most of the kids are polite and respectful. There are, however, a few who are a challenge. Prior to this, I was a paramedic/firefighter, EMT and ACLS instructor. This was a great job also. I was injured and no longer able to perform those duties. Thus, the move to transporting children. I am very active in my church. Because of my background, I am the Emergency Response Coordinator. We are in the process of developing a disaster plan for our campus. For the past three years we have had an English As A Second Language ministry. I started out teaching intermediate and advanced students. This year I am teaching high beginner. This level is definitly more difficult. My husband and I live on a 20 acre farm. We began breeding and showing Arabian horses in 1995. Our babies did quite well. The 2000 show season was our most successfull. Because of my injury it was no longer practical or safe to continue showing. Our herd is reduced to three and we take in a few boarders. Last year (October) I took two rescue horses. One was adopted last month. The other is still tied up in court. This is supposed to be resolved in May. I have four children; a son and three daughters, eight grandchildren and two great-grand children. I will share more about them later. Life is good. I love the Lord and each day is a blessing. I hope anyone who reads this is as blessed. April has been a most difficult month. I had knee surgery, and my dog had a cyst removed. We have been recovering together. One of my granddaughters was a passenger in an mva. She has two broken feet and a compression fracture of her L2 vertebrae. My husband is miserable with spring allergies. Hope to have some pictures to post soon. I don't like the picture that was posted. I was grungy from farm work. Well, Cheynne, the granddaughter that was injured in the mva is mending nicely. As I mentioned before, I have four kids. Well they are not kids anymore. Clint is the oldest, Lauri is oldest of the girls, then there is Christie and Dana is the baby. There is six years difference between Christie an...Expand for more
d Dana. Clint has a son, Caleb almost 17 and a step-daughter, Leah. Leah has a two year old named Arriana. Christie has three sons and a daughter - Michael and Jake have been out of school for several years now. Cheynne is 15 and Jenzen is 9. He is quite a soccer goalie! Dana has three girls, the twins (not identical) Taylor and Tyler almost 17 and Faith almost 15. Laurie was married but divorced with no children of her own, but has a step-daughter, Nicole and three step-grandchildren. I do have two grandcats, Moly and Bodhi She named they after plants. Thanksgiving is over. We had our annual dinner at church. Great food and fellowship. Gearing up for Christmas. Sunday is Hanging of the Green. This is where we decorate the church. If I can remember how to add pictures, I will do so. Libby and I recovered from our surgeries. She actually did better than I. There was still a lot of pain, so I had a series of injections in the knee. It has been good so far. Horses, dogs and cat a fat and happy. We are supposed to get a little snow later this week. Probably not enough to cancel school, but you just know the kids will be wearing their pj's insideout and backwards and doing the snow dance. There are 37 days left till school is out. This has been a rough year. I have a high school route and my kids are great. I have the same ones morning and afternoon. However, it is not the same route I had for the past three years. Intermediate school and MECC (that is Mason Early Childhood Center) are not the same. I do not take home the same kids I bring in in the morning. That is a total of 165 kids. There are a few whose names I still don't know. Having two different bus drivers is difficult for the kids as well. So, I am looking forward to the end of this school year. I would like the same route next year if the morning and afternoon would be the same. Other routes were split like mine and no one likes it. I am probably going to discontinue my Classmates membership.
