Julia's Story
Life
After high school, I attended North Texas State University, which is now North Texas University, with a BA in Speech Communication and a minor in Psychology. I graduated in December 1975. I remained in Dallas until 1978. At that time, I moved to Austin and attended University of Texas and received a Teaching Certification in Speech which I never used. I married Andrew Dobbins in 1980, and we have celebrated will celebrate our 24 anniversary in December of this year. e will graduate from high school. He wants to go to Japan in the summer and return to Austin and the collge he will attend is up in the air. He is not sure. But he wants to major in Computer Science. He is a video game genius. I hope to travel after he graduates. I have worked at Texas Rehabilitation Commission (now the Agency is called Disability and Rehabilatative Services, for 23 years. They had flex time and I didn't want to leave that. It is a good place to work also. Plus the cause is one that is very interesting and helpful to the people who are disabled. I will be able to retire in about 3 years.
