Julia's Story
I moved away from Edmond in 1972 ..I finished my school years at Wellston, Oklahoma. I had a great high school with many great friends there as with the ones I had left in Edmond. I went to OSU technical and became a electrical/ mechanical draftsperson. I worked as a drafter for 10 years and then became full time mom at home. I still have many fond memories of Orvis Risner and I have oftened wondered what happened to all the friends that I had known there. I now work again at a casino along with my husband, Donnie. I have 2 daughters and 1 son. We have our first grandchild as of Sepember '08. He is of course the highlight of our weeks, days, hours and minutes. re is an important part of our life. With my Navajo background and my husband Donnie being Southern Cheyenne... our tribal background is NOT AN interest or hobby but our way of life. Every decision we make is foundation for our ancestors and culture. We are traditional Native Americans and attempt to practice in our ways. Our grandson has already participated in our tribe's ceremonies many times since his birth. I have come full circle with our spiritual factors and ancestors, and now I know where I should be and with who. These are my ancestors ; my children, grandchildren and those who have gone and will be going before me on the journey.
