Julia's Story
Life
I live in NE Florida with my husband, 3 children, dog and cat. We have one daughter and two sons, one of whom is Autistic. He is actually our third son (fourth child). Our second son (third child) died at birth.
School
In high school my longest crush was Bobby Constantakis. At the time I thought I kept it pretty much under wraps, but so many years later, I'm pretty sure I didn't. Se la vie.
My most memorable friends in high school were Amy Smith, Debbie Peterson, Kerrin Wilson, and Sylvia Robles. Unfortunately, we haven't kept in touch.
As for teachers, I don't know that any really inspired me. More, it was the class topic that intrigued me and kept me motivated. And to that end, I'd say Mrs. Sepulveda (Microtechnique) motivated me most. The class, difficult that it was, kept me inspired to continue.
If I could relive high school, would I? Only if I could do things differently. Otherwise - NO!
College
NMSU - I'm just glad I survived! Oh, and graduated. I was most definately not a role model in college. I was very immature and...Expand for more
self-centered. I made a lot of very poor choices, put myself and others at risk and caused heartache. Because of all this I (deservedly) lost some very special friends.
After College
I moved to NE Florida and experienced the most profound culture shock. Everything was different; environment, weather, people, driving, social activities...and more. The first few years were very rough. I'd say I matured and grew up those first few years. I met my husband around the end of 1989. We've been together ever since.
Workplace
I've been working at the same company for 20 years. It's been merged, acquired, split off, etc, and I'm glad I'm still around. I'm a mainframe programmer. I was in management for several years, but I'm back to programming and glad to be there!
Ties to Las Cruces
I no longer have familial ties to Las Cruces. My sister and parents live in the Dallas metro. I have made it out to Las Cruces a few times since my parents moved, and I hope to continue doing so. It is my birthplace. I hope to attend a future high school reunion.
