Julia's Story
Life
Still happily married to a wonderful man that has shown me what is really important in life. Two sons that challenge my patience daily but really remind me how precious children are.
School
Oh boy. High school. Lots of good times with a few good friends. Far more rewarding than popularity and pretend friends. Academics was easy then, even with a part time job. Didn't make a lot of time for sports though. And never saw the point in experimenting with drugs.
College
Riddle was a BLAST! At least I thought so then. The real friends were wonderful and would like to believe life-long but my first failures in academics were achieved here. I didn't have a passion for engineering and certainly was not enticed by the great education available. Was too distracted and bored to see any of that. Then there was CU. e wonderful friends in nursing school. Really started to grow up then.
Workplace
Busser, ice cream scooper, waitress, classified ad rep, beer tub girl, nurses aide, residential counselor, youth couselor, pizza delivery driver, bartender and receptionist. Then I finally graduated with my BSN and became a real RN. Grad nurse on a pulmonary floor in Denver, grad & staff nurse in the NICU in Colorado Springs, staff nurse in Phoenix, and a staff and (charge) nurse in Mesa. Was all worth experiencing despite some embarassing moments because it brought me to where I am now...taking care of babies.
Military
AFROTC at Riddle was rewarding and fun. It presented many more challenges than those faced at Fort Jackson's basic training. Still that and many more memories of San Antonio, Aurora, Fort Gordon, and Washington state all contributed to the decision that the Army was not for me.
