Julia's Story
Hi everyone,
I attended BBCI from fall of 1972 to graduation from grade 13 in 1976. I lived on Maple Drive till 1975, then on Saskatchewan Cres till 1976. My passion during those years was competitive swimming and I was a member of the Base Borden Barracudas and trained at the old Bardia Pool. I also taught swimming and was a lifeguard. I was also a member of 700 Communications Squadron and reached the lofty rank of Pte trained!
After graduation, I attended Waterloo University in Kinesiology for one year then went back to my home town of Halifax and attended Dalhousie. Even in those days university was expensive, so I joined the...Expand for more
military in 1979 to have subsidized education. Started off as a Logistics officer (not much choice for women in those days) but changed to Health Care Administration (where I should have been all along) a few years ago. Military training returned me to Borden a few times and it brought back many pleasant memories.
I retired from the military in 2013 while I was stationed at 1 CFHSG HQ in Edmonton. and currently, I have a beautiful daughter, Megan, who graduated from Ryerson University in June, 2007, and lives in Ottawa with her husband Jesse and her son Cooper. I settled in Stony Plain AB and work at the Good Samaritan Society.
