Julia's Story
Life
The best thing to ever happen to me was the birth of my daughter Natalie in 1995. Not only is she my source of happiness but she is everything to me. She constantly keeps me laughing. She is truly a chip off the old block. I'm no longer married to her father. Natalie has adjusted to the divorce well. She now attends the same schools that I went to. Although she will be a Bruin and go to Broadneck High School.
Workplace
After volunteering as a Firefighter at Earleigh Heights and Cape St. Claire for a number of years, I was hired by Anne Arundel County Fire Department. Looking back now I realize that I had an undiagnosed cardiac condition that ended that career. After the Fire Department I went to work in the chemical industry developing private Fire Brigades. onse. I left the private sector and went to work for the State developing training programs for emergency responders. I was developing my resume and taking care of that cardiac thing when I learned that one of my best friends in the world )and the guy that got me hooked on this emergency response stuff) needed help in his company. I left the state and went to work with Mike Austin at A&A Environmental. Our company does a lot of emergency response to hazardous materials. If you see it on the news, we are there. While at A&A I have gained more best friends. Everyday I get to blend working with devoted friends with performing a job I love that lets me go to all of the big, nasty chemical spills and derailments. But most importantly, they give me the flexiblity to allow me to put my daughter Natalie first. Who could ask for anything more?
