Julianne's Story

Julianne is from Chicago, Illinois. Julianne is married with Ray Barnoski. Julianne's schools include Our Lady Elementary Academy. Julianne works(ed) at Chicago magazine. Julianne's interests include Please dont use foul language on FB.........lets keep it decent!. Music Julianne likes includes Robbie Robertson. One of Julianne's favorite quotes is:""Life isn't measured by the number of breaths you take but by the number of moments that take your breath away"! and "Never apologize for...reading..." Rosenberg's First Law (simplified)". More about Julianne:"I quit work when I had my son, Mike. I worked at Chicago Magazine for the last ten years of my career. The magazine was then at 500 N. Michigan Av. and we were together with WFMT. The President of WFMT and Publisher of WFMT Guide, i.e., Chicago Guide, and, finally, Chicago Magazine was Ray Nordstrand, (he hired me). I not only had all the right qualifications but he said, ' I lived in the right zip code, 60614, (later changed to 60657) and also I was the right zodiac sign (Virgo). I was Chief Typographer and Graphics Coordinator. When I first started working there it was just a small guide to programming called the WFMT Guide, (no articles and no advertising). That all changed after about the 3rd month I was there. I really loved working there, plus we got a lot of free tickets to stuff, such as various concerts at Ravinia in the summer, a whole series of Modern Dance recitals once, 5-weeks in a row, various plays around town, and, not to mention being on TV answering the phones every year at the WTTW Live Auction Telethon. One year I asked my Mom if she'd seen me on TV and s...Expand for more
he said, "Yes, honey, but every time the camera was on you you were eating something and I could hardly see your face." They always had a lot of good food donations for volunteers at the auction. It was just the greatest place ever to work. Whenever someone had a birthday they got a big party in the broadcast studio with a big cake and great presents (although being as how we were mostly all Virgos some of us had to share our birthday parties)--but that was cool. The then Editor-and-chief of Chicago Magazine was Allen Kelson and he used to bring his friends in to where I worked and tell them I was the best typographer in Chicago. One time when I was moving to a different apartment, only two blocks down the street actually, but I was a little bit stressed out. Allen told me I could take the whole summer off, with pay! He said to just give them a call now and then and they would mail me my paychecks. WOW!! How cool is that? You don't see that much anymore!! I really hated to quit but I had no relative to watch my son and I just couldn't leave him with a perfect stranger. I know because I tried. I hired a woman who came well recommended but after I walked three blocks to my bus stop I turned right around and went back home, paid the woman and told her thanks but I thought it over and was going to quit my job. I'm still glad I did and that I was able to stay home with my son. (enough about me already!!--well, maybe more later--this is sort of fun actually, like writing my memoirs--which I've often thought about doing one day, but, 'NOT-TO-WORRY', I doubt I would be able to fit a whole book into this 'About Me' spot on Facebook).".
