Julie Anne's Story
Life
I left Pensacola to attend the University of Wisconsin-Madison. From there I had a career in intelligence, which was both very satisfying and very frustrating. After that, bounced around California for a few years, working on advanced degrees in psychology and biology, while working as a lab tech and continuing to write.
Started writing professionally in 1977, but didn't get serious about it until 1987. Have been published in books, monographs, short stories, computer games, tv, film, under a variety of pseudonyms -- most common was Jenn Saint-John. Currently writing with my husband, a former rocket scientist turned traffic control engineer, as J.P. Burton, but nothing's due out for about 16 months. We write HisFic and SFF.
No kids -- we're dog and horse people. Our "child" is a (at this time, Sept of 2010) 9 month old puppy, an Old English Mastiff named Bellatrix ("legal name" Smokin' Lads Warrior Queen). She's currently 29" at the shoulder and weighs 190 lbs, and still has a year and a quarter to grow. She already has her CGC (Canine Good Citizen) certification, and should ...Expand for more
be certified as a service dog in a few months. She goes *everywhere* with us. We also keep koi, imaginatively named Fish One, Fish Two, Fish Three, etc.
We travel for fun, usually someplace snowy so we can ski, or oceanic so we can scuba. Avid sailors but don't get to do as much of it as we'd like. At home, we horse trek through the desert or go camping in various national and state parks. We're both addicted to computer war strategy games, and it's rare that we don't play for at least half an hour a day when we're at home.
We're frequent author-guests at various science fiction and fantasy conventions but rarely go outside the southwest or California, with the exception of World Fantasy and WorldCon.
Most of our friends are scattered around the world, and we enjoy both visiting them and having them visit us.
