Julie's Story
Life
I lived in Rockledge until 7th grade so I have alot of great memories of childhood friends. I moved to Ellsworth, Maine for grades 8 - 12 and lived in Connecticut until Nov '08. It would be fun to find some old friends.
School
I have some fun memories from Hans Christian Anderson...cutting out potato stamps. Taking naps, if you were really good you got to go on the stage and lay down.
In 3rd grade I broke my foot. I had crutches and the teachers used to let me leave a little early to walk to music because it was on the other side of the school. One day they let me leave and then decided to show a movie instead. No one ever showed up and then I was stuck outside in the hallway because the door was too heavy for me to open. I ended up standing out in the hallway for what seems hours (it was probably only about 10 or 15 minutes!) before someone remembered I was out there!
I always loved Mrs. Rembrandt and got to have her for 4th and 5th grade. I also remember Mrs. Nunnery fainted in 4th? grade. I think she was pregnant.
The physical fitness tests in P.E. and having to run around the entire playground, doing the 50yard dash. Learning how to square dance on the back bus area. We had to hold hands with the boys! The school song..."Hans Christian Anderson, Hans Christian Anderson, you're the one that teaches us the way." (Is that right?!) Great stuff!
Workplace
My first real job was pumping gas at the Exxon station in Ellsworth Maine. I was one of the two "token females" they had to hire for summer help.
I went on to making a mi...Expand for more
llion banana splits at Dairy Queen, making hamburgers, etc. at then, brand new Burger King. Spending a few summers/years at the Country Store down in Trenton. I spent a year in Florida "finding myself" after high school working for the Houston Astro's during spring training.
I worked at a dry cleaners in Concord N.H. during college.
After moving to Connecticut, I helped my ex run a paving business and actually ran some equipment for a couple of years! I think I knew how to run everything except the dump truck...too big!
After we divorced...I started over again by being an office manager at an assisted living community for a couple of years. Then worked for GetronicsWang as a District Administrator. I've been working as an elementary school secretary for 9 years and absolutely loved it! I love being around the kids and the teachers aren't too bad either! I was also the president of our local union for 3 years. Lots of fun!
More news...
I got married to my best friend of 7 years in April '08. His last name is Clarke...so I married an E! Chris plays bass guitar and sings and loves to fish. We went down to Florida (St. George Island) and got married on the beach - very romantic! We moved down to Santa Rosa Beach at the end of October - most of my family now lives in that area. SO, I get to have another new adventure finding a new job, etc. My kids are doing great. TJ who will be 19 in December is persuing his interest in automotive repair at UTI and my daughter Courtney will be starting her senior year of high school.
