So after high school I went over to Eastern Oregon State to persue an exciting career in Soil Science, but when registering for winter term I was stuck in a radio broadcasting class and found a new love. I then transferred to PSU to get my BA in communications and then over to...Expand for more
Mt. Hood for my broadcasting degree. I worked at most of the local stations doing whatever they would hire me for. It was amazing. I met people, was at every concert, and loved it. I DJ'd at a local bar to pay my way through college and filling in one night I met my future husband. That was in August of 2000. Once I realized that I didn't want to move to a small market on the East Coast to do radio, I had to switch career paths. I had just graduated, so I joined the family business of writing educational children's books. I helped in marketing. The opportunity arose, and I was able to take a crack at writing my own title for older kids, and the publisher loved it. We had contracts with major medical equipment producers to feature their equipment in our books and things were going great. Then September 11th, 2001. Our contracts were cancelled, and I was out looking for work. I got on with a temp service and started as a receptionist at a mortgage company. I was hired on quickly, and worked my way up. I love this business, and that I still get to work on the book series with my Mom, and Nana. We still have our publisher, and I have sold over 50,000 of just my title.".
