Julie's Story
Life
After high school I went to college in Tacoma for a BA in English, went back to school in Tucson for a BA in French and then in Pennsylvania for my MA. During my years at Penn State, I lived and taught English in France for a year.
In 1998 I moved to South Carolina with Dennis Williams, who was a senior instructor of English at the College of Charleston. We were married in 2006.
I taught French for two years at a high school in Charleston but then went back to school through the U of South Carolina for a degree in Library Science. While going to school, I worked as an assistant in the library at Marrington MS in Goose Creek, SC, and loved every minute of my job.

o years as a school library media specialist at a rural elementary school in St. George, SC, I got a position at Beech Hill Elementary School in Summerville, which was much closer to home. Then, in 2007, I moved to a brand new school, River Oaks Middle School, in the same district. I loved being a librarian and working with middle school-age kids.
After Dennis retired, I began looking for work in Florida to be closer to my parents, who retired there for part of the year. I found a position as an Instructional Services Librarian at Florida Southern College in Lakeland, FL, and we moved here with our three cats in 2016. I love the work I do and we really enjoy being here, despite the occasional hurricane!
