Julie's Story

Life I was born and raised in Danville, Il. I attended Bismarck-Henning school for thirteen long years. After high school, I chose to attend Eastern Illinois University where I got my Bachelor's degree in special education on May 10, 2003. My certificate gives me the ability to teach k-21 in all the disabilities categories. I found a job right after college at Iroquois Special Education Association in Gilman, IL. They placed me with Watseka High School as a resource special education teacher. I am very happy for my first year is going well. I live here in Watseka now in a nice apartment, and I am driving a brand new 2004 Dodge Stratus to work. I am in a committed relationship with an amazing man who makes me very very happy. School I attended Bismarck for thirteen years of my life. I met alot of interesting people through school. I remember the great teachers that I met especially Mr. Graul who recently retired. Mr. Graul's math class was the first place that I ever felt that I could do math. I was also in Drama for four years which has helped me to be dram...Expand for more
atic in my teaching career. I enjoy being an actor, and I think it helps my students understand that life doesn't always have to be serious although I usually am serious and always have been. I have remembered my high school days through my students. Most recently a pot caught fire on the stove in my apartment, and I told my students that in high school one of my friends called me Ms. grease fire because I had caused a fire at my grandmother's house. I quess some things never change. Anyway, that's what I remember from high school. College I went to Eastern Illinois University in Charleston, IL for five years after high school to become a special education teacher. I graduated with the class of 2003 and received my bachelor's degree and my LBSI certificate which is the newest certificate for special educators. I can teach children from 5 to twenty-one who have disabilities. I keep in touch with many of my friends through e-mails now. I also will use instant chat sometimes. I remember going through a lot of hard times in college, but my friends were always there for me.
