Julie's Story
Workplace
I work one-on-one with a student who has Cornelia DeLange Syndrome. She is developmentally slow in every area. Her name is Wendy and we spend our days in a classroom for students who are CI (cognitively impaired) - formerly labeled TMI. She does not hear very well and was born with a cleft palate. The roof of her mouth is very tall and skinny and she can not make the sounds that most people can make. Because of these things, we use sign language a lot. She has a very good sense of humor and is wonderful to work with.

t done with school at the end of the day, I work for my sister-in-law at her office. She owns a computer company - DMC Unlimited. I help with filing, billing, etc. It helps her out and, of course, the extra money is always helpful.
During summer break from school, I return to Laman's Landing Campground on Hamlin Lake, where I have worked since the summer of 1990. It is fun to return to see all the regulars every summer. The view of the lake never hurts either. I do a little bit of everything there - both inside and outside of the office.
