June's Story
I had started the first and second grade at Henry Center School out in southern Lincoln County with other students. Then we moved to Colo. Springs and I attended Lowell Elementary as did my sister, Mae. I started going to Limon Grade School in the fourth grade and went through the kninth grade.. We did another move to Fountain and I went to Fountain High School graduating in 1949. We went on our Senior trip to a dude ranch outside of Grand Junction, CO. for a week. It belonged to a sister of one of my classmates. My favorite activity was riding a horse. I went to work at Shepard`s Citations, which published a lawyer`s reference book and worked for 2 1/2 years. I met and married my first husband in 1951. He was stationed at Fort Carson, Co. We had 1 girl and 2 boys, who are grown up. We lived in Colo. Springs for about 20 years before moving to Oracle, AZ. te Hiway Dept. and later got on with the County Hiway Dept abd was a foreman over the Dudleyville Landfill. We lived here for about 25 yrs before he passed away in `92. I have been going to our Community Center since and do different activities plus crafts, like weave baskets, sew on quilts, crochet, etc. I also like to go and listen to old time western music and that`s how I met my second husband, Chuck.He was a musician that played a guitar amd sang western songs. We were divorced, but stayed friends and went to the music jams in Tucson. He passed away in October on his 79th birthday in 2008.. Me and my cat live here now, but my younger son lives next door to me. Then, my daughter lives just a mile away and we have dinner for special occasions. Our oldest son visited from the Dallas-Ft Worth area. He did wiring on airplanes or computers. He passed away in May of 09 after a long illness.
