Jym (Thomas)'s Story

Life Well, after graduating from Heritage and suffering through the oil crunch of the 80's our family decided to leave Texas and venture to Nashville, TN. This was in '87. I tried my hand at several jobs and sang part time with a few groups. Rosie Rozell of the Statesmen Qt fell ill just before a trip to FL and I got the call to fill in for him. After returning from my first trip to FL (Clearwater), I told Missy that we needed to move there, I loved it. I had been trained in glassblowing growing up and had taken a weekday job in Nashville at a sign company manufacturing their neon lights. I contacted a sign company in Orlando and within a week was employed there. This was 1989. After several years of working for a couple of different companies, I decided to venture out on my own and have built a fairly successful business (1995). FABCO manufactures custom lighting. Whether Neon, Cold Cathode, Special Effects or whatever you can imagine, we can produce it. The company is international and currently is doing quite well. The company website is fabconeon.com, if anyone is curious. After settling in Orlando for several years I was approached by one of our local news anchors from the evening news. He was a bass singer and had a quartet. Their tenor was leaving and after a 9 year singing vacation for myself, I was now back performing for fun on the weekends. We cut two CD during the 4 years we were together and had our music in rotation on radio as far away as Australia. We were fortunate to be featured on the SeaWorld Easter Sunrise national live television broadcast two years running and performed for many city functions, television programs, professional basketball games, and ...Expand for more
even sang the national anthem for the Orange Bowl New Year's Day, nationally televised and before 74,000 live in the stands. For nothing more than a local group, we had a lot of fun and experienced a lot of success. Since then the group has broken up and the business is still doing well. My son, Thomas, has grown into a very handsome young man. He obviously got all my looks. This is very obvious, because if you see Melissa's pictures (they are posted here in Classmates), you will see she kept all of hers. Thomas graduates from high school this year (2003) and has intentions of attending a local college. He has taken some modeling/acting classes and has intentions currently of going into a career in some form of entertainment ... I know he has aspirations of possibly radio work. Currently, he is employed at Radio Shack-Longwood working sales and he seems quite good at it and enjoys it immensely. Melissa and I are still together and will celebrate out 20th anniv this November. She is still just as beautiful as ever. I couldn't imagine not having her by my side. I can say that with all I learned at Heritage, the best thing I took from there was that little cheerleader. We have had a fun ride thus far. Melissa, Thomas, and myself currently still reside in Longwood, FL (a suburb of Orlando) and have no intentions of leaving. I love Orlando, it is squeaky clean. Mickey don't put up with no trash. And that little mouse carries alot of weight around here. Be sure, if any of you visit Orlando, please look us up. We love to have company. And also, contact me via email ... I love to visit with old friends. Jym Howe (Thomas ... for those of you who knew me before highschool)
