Kamia's Story

Life Lets see...After graduation about six months later I started working for a non-profit as a Network assistant. Then about 8 months later I moved to Houston, TX for about a year. It was pretty close to great. I had a great job, once again in IT, and making more money then a 19 year old should be making. But the weather was not agreeing with my asthma. But the boiling point was when I bought my car and 3 days later it flooded. About a month later I drove, with my father assistance, from TX back to MD. I stayed with my parents for awhile, 6 months. Tried to take a little vacation by working at a bank part-time as a teller. Being broke sucked so I got another banking job and then moved on my own in wakefield circle. Stayed there for about 2 years. Started contracting for different government agencies to find out "what I wanted to be when I grew up." Ended up at the Dept of State...Expand for more
. I'm still here. Found out about the Foreign Service and loved the idea. Started school again with a major in International Studies, hoping to transfer eventually to a 4-year university sometime in the next year. I moved into DC on Capital Hill, about 3 or 4 blocks from Library of Congress. Moved to be closer to job and Waldorf is just too far. I'm still contracting for the State Dept and love it. Had a chance to meet Secretary Rice twice and have only been here a year. I'm making crazy money. They said you couldn't make any money with out a degree...what a bunch of crap. Don't have a man or Kids yet. I blame the man thing on myself...never have anytime to go out. Everything is going well. I'm too responsible, too old for my age. I plan to move to NY next year. I'll probably roomate there and just slow down for a little bit. I don't know why I'm in such a hurry to be on top!
