Kandis's Story
Life
I left Washington in 1998 and moved to Alexandria, Virginia. While in Virginia I was working for G&G/RAVE as a store manager. I was pregnant with my twins (identical) and gave birth on January 2, 1999. 5lbs 2oz and 5lbs 4oz, 18 inches long and 20 minutes apart.
I got married and moved to Fayetteville, North Carolina. I ran into my best friend from high school Shelley Dowling at Wal Mart. She graduated a few years before me from Mt. Tahoma High School. We lost contact for about 6 years preveously.
I gave birth to my 4th son on July 10, 2001, 7lbs 2oz, 17 inches long, and moved to Augusta, Georgia. From there we moved to Frederick, Maryland where I live now.
I was diagnosed with terminal cancer in April 2003, had major surgery in May and started chemo in June (and school). I finished my chemo November 2003.
I decided to go back to school in June 2003 to get a degree. Started the nursing program and decided that I wanted to become a doctor and changed my major to biology.
I am currently a full time student and a full time mother. I am still under the care of a physician, and get treated every three months. But so far so good. God has been a VERY BIG part of my life and if it weren't for him I wouldn't be here today.
I was given 12 months to live from the date of my diagnosis and it is now going on 2 years later....Expand for more

School
I remember having crushes but I think that I am still a little embarassed to say on who.
If I could do it all over again I would have dated A LOT more. Being with the same person throughout high school I feel like I missed out on a lot.
Workplace
My first job was at KB Toys in the Tacoma Mall in 1997. It was a seasonal possition.
I started at RAVE in the spring og 1998 and transfered with that company when I moved to Virginia. I worked my way up to a store manager. Claires offered me more money so I changed companies.
I worked for Claires as a store manager until my husband got stationed in North Carolina. There was no store for me to transfer to at that location so I became a stay at home mom.
After my youngest son was born I started to work part time at Wal Mart as a lab tech in the photo lab.
When my husband got stationed in Georgia I transfered with Wal Mart.
I found a better possition as a leasing agent at an apartment complex. Then I was diagnosed and we had to move to Maryland so that I could be treated at Walter Reen Army Medical Center in Washington DC.
After my treatment began I started to work part time at Claires again as a part time manager. When I decided to go back to school full time I quit my job and have been a student ever since.
