Karen's Story
Life
I'm very much enjoying life! I left Kodak in 1999 after completing 26 years working in various positions, most recently as an internal consultant working at the strategic level with global leaders. For the past seven years, I've been the president and founder of my own consulting practice. We work with CEO's and senior executives in the profit and non-profit arenas to initiate organizational culture change through the development of organizational structures, strategies, systems, human resources, teams, and individuals. I'm also, currently serving as President of the Board of Directors of a local association; new to this position this year - and am learning very quickly just how different membership associations are from other types of organizations. I completed my Masters Program in '02 at American University in D.C. which was a 10 year dream finally realized. I felt so honored and privileged to be part of that program which is one of the tops in the country for Organization Development. I had to fly to D.C. ...Expand for more
once a month for 22 months which was okay until 911 happened, then a two hour trip turned into a six hour trip. The program structure is a cohort set-up which was very interesting and demanding at the same time. The purpose was to learn as much about ourselves and how we interact with others, our impact and our effects, as it was to learn about academic theory and methods. I'm an adjunct professor at Nazarath College teaching Organizational Psychology which I love. It's great to interact with the youth and future of our society. I'm very happily married to a "Kiwi" (New Zealander)and have a beautiful 29 year old daughter who is the pride of my life. She's a licensed child therapist and worked in Boston for three years before returning to the Rochester area. I enjoy cycling, traveling, tennis, yoga, meditation, backpacking, and hiking. I'm currently exploring many forms of post-modern spirituality; especially feminist spirituality which has brought me back to my 60's and 70's feminist movement roots. Life is good.
