Karen's Story
Life
Hey everyone! I graduated from JMU in 1999 with a BM in music education and I taught for one year at Clymore Elementary in Fort Defiance. In 2001, I moved to Los Angeles to teach high school band. I left teaching in public schools in 2003 to focus on working with the Youth and Music ministries at my church.
I am very involved in my church, and for the past year I have been the Director of the After School Program (which unfortunately ended in September 2005; due the the illness of my mother, I moved back to VA until her death in November 2005).
I am highly involved in the Worship Arts Ministry at church. I volunteer as staff for the Junior High/High School Youth Programs, and served as wors...Expand for more
hip leader for our Youth program. I was on staff in our church office, helping with basic office duties, including graphic arts and our church website.
My father passed away in April 2005, and my mother passed away in November 2005.
AUGUST 2006 UPDATE:
I just started a new teaching job with the Silver Valley Unified School District in Yermo, CA. I will be teaching General Music to K-2 students on the Army base at Fort Irwin.

JULY 2007:
I have a new opportunity to jump into the Special Education field with Los Angeles Unified School District. By summer 2009, I will have a double CA clear credential in music and SPED.
