Karen's Story
Life
In the late 60s I organized a women's hospital volunteer auxiliary in SW Louisiana and trained the first 45 volunteers, and THEN we adopted two children. In the 70s and 80s I lived in NC and was a mama and wife, owned my own small business in wastepaper recycling and consulting for 14 years, traveled to Egypt and Israel, experienced a divorce and married again, and then graduated with honors from Meredith College with a BA ...Expand for more
in Religion in 1987. We moved to Louisville, KY, so I could attend seminary for my M.Div. degree. In the 90s my physical health plummeted, which pushed my Type-A, high-achieving, personality into a forced retirement -bummer! We spent 2 months in Finland -one touring and one with me hospitalized - that's another story! Love historical studies and family history work. New wisdom for me: there IS a rich life in the "slow" lane, too.
