Karen's Story
Life
After graduating in 1992, I attended Delaware Valley College in PA and received my Bachelor's Degree in Large Animal Science. I then went to work for a privately owned real estate company in Easton and stayed with them until 2008. From there I went to work for another small local real estate company up until my car accident in 2010. I was in a bad accident on Rt 404 heading to work on June 25th. I spent 8 days in Shock Trauma ICU and then was moved to Kiernan Rehab for 22 days. I was released to come home on July 22. I celebrated my parent's anniversary on the 23rd and then my sister Bonnie gave birth to my niece Anna on the 24th. After being released by all the Drs,, I was able to return to work in the real estate industry. In 2012 I was asked to help open the Easton Tractor Supply Company store and was hired as a Team Leader. From there I moved into the Receiver position and stayed full time until 2014 when I left and went to work for the Star Democrat in their customer care department and ended up in the Pagination De...Expand for more
partment laying out newspapers and magazines. This was very challenging but exciting. I still worked at Tractor Supply part time in the evenings and / or weekends. In 2016 I took a short break and tried something new working with Coca Cola in their warehouse. I soon found out 50+ hour weeks on very little sleep was not healthy and I had to end my adventure within 6 months. From there I went back into Real Estate and have since come back to Talbot County working with my original boss from 1996. My brother gifted me with a nephew in January and we now have a third grandchild on the way for my parents (due April 2018).
I'm still involved with 4-H and am currently serving as a State Project Leader in the Rabbit project. I still raise rabbits and travel to various states for shows. It is a fun time and I've met a lot of people through this.
I currently have a fiancee who has gotten me back into horses and I now Joust which is Maryland's State Sport. No wedding date has been set yet but it will be sometime in the next 3 years.
