Karen's Story
Greetings Class of 68!
DEC 2009 UPDATE:
STACEY AND JONATHAN ROTH became Mr. and Mrs. on November 22, 2008 in Livermore, CA. And...they purchased their first home, also in Livermore, as well. Wow!
I'm blessed beyond belief to own my own home in No.California, and continuing to work...alas have joined the ranks of under-employed tho' working part time as a administrative asst./front desk for a local printing co. & temporarily p/t for a neighboring roofing company.
Our children have grown and are doing well on their own and now there's my 2 precious grandchildren living in San Antonio, Texas with mom Marisa & dad Joey~~Maddie's in 4th grade, being 9 now and Ben's in 1st grade & is 6! How time flies ((^_^))
How about this - - Mom's their school's nurse! How convenient is that??
Just in case you're reading this for the 1st time...Ray & I divorced after nearly 3 decades of marriage in 2003 & I'm single and independent once again. Yes, I have signed up w/ Classmates in hopes of ??? Proof that Chinese water torture still works. (Classmates bugging me to join - not dating...lol)
I too am a bit grayer, softer and my hair's longer than when i was in high school. I'm also happier, more content & satisfied with life in general and me specifically. I really had no "me" much before my recent divorce. Funny how that works isn't it?
There's not a whole lot to share. I will always love my life - it's the way i'm wired '-). Sometime soon i'll update my pictures! New year's resolution - be here now. :)
I hope by posting this, others will be encouraged to write their bio's and we can once again reconnect and reminisce about the 'good old days' :)
UPDATE: 6/6/10
MOI:
Still working at printing company (10/07) Altho sadly underemployed w/o zero benefits & 8% cut in pay a/o 1/3/09...just in: *all-company mtg* scheduled for 6/8/10...more *bad* news??
Good news -->I'm heading south on 7/24 for OHS Sweet 60's dinner in Orange! Looking forward to seeing everyone, hearing what's new in their lives and making new friendships while updating others. BE THERE OR BE SQUARE "o)
KIDS:
Marisa & Joey: Joey's got a new job-out of the home and into the workforce. Maddie's graduated to her final year in elementary school (5th) & Ben's grad to 2nd grade. Wow! Mom loves being their school nurse, as well as mom too.
Stacey & Jon: 09/03/09 the newlyweds have added a Rottweiler, Ruby, to their burgeoning family that includes fish and now a nearly 1 yr old/90 lb puppy. Hmm, what's next? '-)
Kyle, my *baby* turned 27 last week! Marisa, my eldest is 40 and Stacey's looking at the downside of 29...where's the time gone to?
APRIL 2013 - UPDATE:
Stacey and Jon welcomed their first, Scarlett Michelle, into their family on 8-13-11. This in and of itself wouldn't be all that unusual, after all that's what husband and wife does, makes a little baby...however Stacey and I have the unique coincidences of both being 31 when we delivered our little GIRLS, AT THE SAME HOSPITAL (Kaiser Walnut Creek)! How's that for history repeating itself? Oh and Stacey was born on the 13th day of the month and so is Scarlett, exactly 30 years and 6 months apart... wow!
I've survived this amazing roller-coaster of an economy and still own my home - can you believe these interest rates - 2% and 3%= OMG!!!! I am on...Expand for more
ce again seeking gainful employment, calling myself retired at 62 just feels too soon. My last job as an admin asst with a housing counseling agency ended last January after nearly 2 years. I still have so much to offer and love being amongst people doing the things i love best - admin and customer service. We shall see :)....
My eldest granddaughter, Maddie, just became a teenager last February - wow! NOW i'm beginning to feel a little bit old(er), lol. My baby (son Kyle) is turning 30 next month (05/83) ~ how can that possibly be, i don't feel much older than 45...riiiiight ;)
I'm learning all about HeartMath and Ho'oponopono with thoughts of becoming certified and teaching others. Amazing what our hearts do when we let them. As a consultant, i can work wherever and whenever i want to - yay!!
And that's about it for now. I renewed my Classmates subscription for another year - so hey - call me, or email me (i'll share my address when we talk) or send me a message and share what's new with you. And...as always...keep checking back - if anything happens I'll be the first to let you know.
NOVEMBER 2014 - UPDATE:
LOL - does anyone ever read these??
Happy Holidays!
Last March found me driving to San Diego to attend a conference around the Law of Attraction (LOA) hosted by Mike Dooley based on his book "Infinite Possibilities." Other than receiving "Notes from the Universe" by Mike, in my daily email, i knew nothing about him and/or his philosophy. SURPRISE!! I found my 'framily' here! and the conference/philosophy is so familiar to me, having grown up with my dad touting Norman Vincent Peale's "The Tough-Minded Optimist" - well, this experience changed/rocked my world. Today i'm living an amazingly enviable life that is happier & even more exciting than i knew possible. I have zero money worries and a full heart. Yeah, really! Sorry if this sounds like an infomercial. I'm not selling, even promoting anything, just sharing what's new with me ((^_^))!!
Talk about LOA - be careful for what i wish for (I asked the Universe for LOVE-think romance, snuggling, companionship and got twins granddaughters) - life is even richer and more fulfilling than i ever imagined it could/would be with the birth of twin girls (thanks Jon & Stacey!!) this past October 6, 2014. Peyton (5.1) and Alexandra (4.1) were full gestation however Alex had to spend her first 9 days in NICU, which means they are teensy little beings...i didn't know baby clothing could come so small lol.
They are both home and momma has her hands full with her twins and their big sis, 3 yr old Scarlett. Wow - poor Jon - he's outnumbered by females 5 to 1, yeah Ruby the Rottie's a fem too ;)
While i'm still unemployed and it seems i may just as well admit i'm retired, i'm far from bored these days. In addition to donating Mon/Wed/Fri to spending all day helping out in whatever way i can at my daughter's home, you'll also find me keeping a healthy volunteer schedule at 3 nearby performing art centers and a renowned playhouse in San Francisco! Yes, I LOVE MY LIFE ;)
All 3 kids are doing well. I'm still seeking my beloved and euphemistically kissing a lot of frogs in the process. Other than the above, life is life, full, rich, abundantly blessed am i.
So...what's new with YOU?
e-hugs! ~ Karen (Burns)Carnahan
