Karen's Story

Life After graduating from ASU, I married an Air Force fighter pilot. He had been the student manager of the apartments I lived in the last semester of our senior year at ASU. While he was in pilot training at Williams AFB, I was doing my laboratory internship at St.Joseph's Hospital. While he was flying an F-4 Phantom in VietNam, I worked at Los Angeles County General in Chemistry. When he finished his VietNam tour, we lived in Spangdahlem, Germany. Next was Alamogordo, New Mexico where our son was born. We then moved to Sacramento, CA in 1970 and we have been here ever since. 99. My last position was with MetWest/Unilab/now owned by Quest Diagnostics as an Operational Manager and Microbiology Manager. It is the largest clinical laboratory in California. I now have 2 precious grandchildren: a 3 year old boy and a 9 month old girl. Three years ago, my husband and I bought a home in Litchfield Park, Arizona, near Luke AFB. It's a second home for us and we are there for only 3 weeks at a time about every other month. However, this summer we are staying in Sacramento, where it is much cooler! I am currently working with Terry Riley in planning the next PUHS Class of 1960's 45th reunion in 2005. I hope to see lots of you there.
