Karen's Story
Life
Hi, I don't know if you'll remember me, I attended Bidwell Jr. High and then PV until January of my junior year when I moved to NJ. I never felt a part of my NJ school, and in my heart am a PV alumni. Using the skills I acquired working with Bidwell's wrestling team I stayed active with wrestling programs throughout college, managing Rider University's team until my senior year. I was thrilled when my son took up the sport and had a very successful career. I have been married to a Bob for 29 years, and we have 3 children--Kristal, 26; Valerie, 24 and Douglas 12. Both the girls are married now and in March I became a grandmother to a beautiful little girl, Kaitlyn Grace Lanci (Kristal's daughter). I returned to teaching full-time 11 years ago, and am a computer teacher, in Palmerton, PA. I think of my teenage years in Chico frequently and know that background is what has kept me pretty relaxed in my opinions and attitudes. My closest friends call me "eclectic" and from time to time I still get teased about how I pronounce certain words. Life is hectic, but I still love hearing from my friends out west.

pdate....Doug is now 34, not 12! My girls are 37 and 35, married, and between them I have 4 grandchildren--Courtney (13), Kate (12), Luke (9), and Hailey (9). I am so lucky that I can relive the best parts of raising children--we are still going to wrestling, football, soccer, cheering, tumbling, and this year we were adding softball but the pandemic took care of that. The girls are awesome soccer players and invited to play for multiple travel teams, so when this is done they need to make a decision. Last June Bob and I celebrated our 40th and his retirement by touring the entire perimeter of Ireland, it was an amazing trip. I am retiring from public school this June, it's a very sad way to retire--can't even say goodbye to the kids. I am really looking forward to the next chapter of my life that will include a lot more time painting and doing things I love. I am an adjunct at the local community college, so I'll continue with that. The virus has hit eastern PA hard, and where I am our lockdown was extended until June 4. Fortunately, my family is good so far, and I hope yours is too. Stay safe, healthy, and happy! Karen
