Caryn's Story

Life {If you are looking for Douglas Scot Fitzgerald, PLEASE read through my Bio} Thank God I started working when I was still in HS (14) because I was in a hit-and-run auto accident (drunk driver) when my youngest son was 2 months old (now 26). This accident changed my life for ever; but I am actually greatful for that. At the time I was "an overly active workaholic; busy, busy, busy" and the accident made me "stop" & live life! I've had numerous medical problems, 3 back surgeries, on and on; I've also been on SSD since 1981 and was told I would be in a wheelchair by the time I was 50. Well, 50 is here and none of the doctors predictions came true; I do have medical conditions but all are manageable. I gave birth to 2 beautiful kids and am the "Nanna" to 5 wonderful grandkids (4 to 9) and for that I am more then greatful! They are my family and my life!!! I've traveled to all but 3 states: Hawaii, and the Dakotas; I've also been to Canada, Mexico and South America. My husband of 20 yrs was good to me but now in his "50's and mid-live crisis' stage" we have decided to seperate. Surprisingly, I am very Happy with my life and look at going into my 50's starting off live anew - who knows what the future holds for me! During the good times (medically) in my life I have worked in the medical field (to include Hospice and the ARC), I have an AA degree and worked in the legal field also, as a Para-Legal; so I've covered all I've ever wanted to do. Now I am working on my spiritual self; When asked if I am religious my answer is always, "NO ~ but I consider myself extremely spiritual"!!! For me always God firs...Expand for more
t, then family, then my life long friends, followed by the remainder of humans on this planet. I read excessively, mostly about "true life" (non-fiction) as I try to expand my knowledge of "us - those that occupy this planet". The SADEST thing that has happened to me in this lifetime is that my brother, Douglas, made a decision and went "home to the other side" on Dec 12th (2002) after a 4 month battle with an extremely rare illness (Amyloidosis)! He is survived by his 18 yr old daughter and a new (his 1st) grandson he never met! Those that knew us, know that Doug and I were always the closest of friends and I'm still dealing with his death (knowing though that he is always with us) as are my parents and my 2 sisters {Karol & Nancy}!!!!! To see a current photo of Doug & his life, PLEASE contact me for the website page! Well that had been the most difficult part of my life until 2011 when my only son also went home on Jan 28th joining my brother, Doug. He was only 2 months shy of his 32nd birthday and a father of 2. He has served and been wounded in the Persian Gulf War; and 8 months later my husband had a heart attack and I became a widow at the age of 56!!! Now it's just me, my daughter, my step-son and our 9 grandkids trying to put our lives back together and praying 2012 will be a much better year!!!! But all in all, I have enjoyed my life and have no regrets and I thank God daily for allowing me this experience, called, LIFE! BYE for now . . . Blessed Be . . . .! PS: I've changed the spelling of name to: Caryn FitzGerald (no longer Karen Fitzgerald) due to indenty theft problems in the past
