Karen's Story
Life
After serving 5 years with the Diplomatic Corp in service in Nassau Bahamas we have bought our retirement home in The Villages, Florida Husband James retired in October of 2006. Daughter Jennifer a Nurse Practioner and is working in San Diego and was married in July 2001 to Andrew Young who is an Attorney in San Diego CA. She graduated from Georgetown with her Masters in Nursing and is now a a Nurse Practitioner and the Mother of 4. My four stepchildren are all now married and have made us the proud Granparents of 14 ! I spend my time bowling, golfing, scrapbooking, painting and being involved with all the clubs here in The Villages. I am very active in NSDAR, NSDU, Colonial Dames, Daughters of American Farmers, DAR National Chair for Units Overseas, and a Chairman for...Expand for more
the State of Florida National Society Daughters of the American Revolution, and am now the Chaplain for the Florida State Society. I am the Honorary Regent of the Daughters of the Union Chapter. and the NSDAR Chapter in the Villages. I co-chair a national Christmas Decorating group with over 200 members world wide who all are "over the top" Christmas decorators. I theme decorate and show over 40 Christmas trees in my home each year to an Open House of several hundred. The rest of my time is spent in Veteran's Support services and charities.
Jim & I love to cruise, and travel as often as we can--time to complete the "bucket lists" !
We have seen almost every country in Europe, Russia and all of the islands in the Caribbean.
We are totally enjoying our retirement.
