Karen's Story
Life
Hello Everyone!
After high school, I went to Orange Coast college for awhile which is where I met my husband. We were married for 20 years and then divorced. I have two sons and three grandsons! Yes, all boys! What is up with that?
I lived in Costa Mesa until 1977 and then we moved to the Pacific Northwest. I just love it up here--rain and all!! Between 1996 and 2000, I lived in the Seattle area, but had to return to Portland, Oregon for family reasons. I really miss it up there, but it's great to be with my mother and children.
If you can believe it... at the ripe old age of 55 years, I decided to go to college. I am now a Senior and I am majoring in Personnel Psychology and Human Resources Management. I just love to learn and even after I graduate, I want to keep taking classes. I will graduate in May 2008.
While I am looking forward to my new career, I also would like to travel. In fact, I plan to travel to France in September 2008 to finally meet my relatives (my mother is from France).
That's all for now. Thanks for stopping by.. :)

UPDATE 5/10/08
Well, I graduated from college tod...Expand for more
ay (finally). What now? I'm looking for a job in my chosen field: Human Resources Management. So far, the only employers who have contacted me are insurance companies that want me to go into sales (???). How did they get that from my resume? Oh well, wish me luck!
UPDATE 7/28/10
Boy, has the time flown by. I did have a job in Human Resources, but in early December 2009, I had to resign. The reason? My mother has a stroke in November and so I am her caregiver. She is 85 years old and doing pretty well considering all that has happened to her. Each day (M-F), a caregiver comes in and cares for her for 6 hours. However, I am the only one who can give her an insulin injection, so I am on a very short leash. I have accepted my "new assignment," and I am enjoying the silver linings to be found there. So that's it for now. Take care.

Here I am ...still taking care of my mother. She will be 90 years old in June. I work for my son as his Executive Assistant... It's all "in the cloud," so it's perfect for me as I can't work outside the home. It's all good. I am well.
Thanks for stopping by. Karen :)
