Karen's Story

Since leaving high school, I was blessed with four children. My 8th grandchild was just born June 15,2009. I am a widow,an ordained minister. I would love to hear from you guys. Since joining classmates I have been very disapointed in not finding some of my dear friends. I realize that high school was such along time ago, but it seems as if it was only yesterday. I am truly thankful for having known all of you and I wish you all the best in the world. May God bless you and keep you safe. There are so many that are no longer with us, and that is truly sad. This is the time of our life now. What we all thought was once so important- that boy or girl,pimples,pom-poms, are not really as important as we may have thought. When we all die and if we can truly count upon one hand our true friends we are truly blessed. I would love to tell you that I am so truly blessed. My thoughts and prayers are with you all. As before I would love to hear from all of you and I truly wish everyone well and my best to you all. I will always remember you as sweet and wonderful friends. Your smiling faces, as we were forever young even as we grow old. I pray that your lives have been as blessed as mine. I have had countless losses, but the blessings sure have out weighed the bad. I always wanted to be a writter/Lawyer when I grew up. My family and friends thought that was a great idea. As it turns out, they were right.Should of followed that dream! As I grew older I realized that was not what I wanted to do. I would still like to become a writter of some sort. I try not to build up steam,I love to travel, and help others in need. And Hot Springs is always a good idea.they have their own steam.I have to many interests to mention. My great-grand parents,God is my hero and I enjoy doing work for him and helping others. One memory I have of being a child was that everyday my Gr-Grandfather would let me take a bag and fill it with candy.I would take it to school and give every one a piece of candy at recess. Those wwere wonderful times.(East Mountain) The one person from my past from Gilmer: The one person from my past who I'd most like to see again is every one, because I really cared about alot of the people I went to school with..But most of all Butch Hoadley. Evelyn Little and Nora Combs, just to start with . Many a bus ride,homecomings,Jr.Sr.Banquets,little pink houses. many great memories from those days. Purple carpet and paint. I have found almost everyone else,Found Evelyn Little, Still Looking for Nora Combs, Bernice Pitman, Rhonda Daniels and sisters,To many to name...As I said EVERYONE. I would hope that people I went to school with would remember that if I was your friend ,that I would go to the ends of the earth for them. Also that I was a little bit nicer than they thought. Alot of people really missed out on having some really good friends that way, not only me,but all the ones who weren't invited to be in"that certain click",remember it is never to late to change until it is to late to change. If I could improve my home, I'd remodel everything and add on a a few balcony's. My dream home would be finishing the 100 year old Victorian house I have and for the work to be finished at the other three as well. My Children:::::Well that would be, That they are as differant from one another as the east is from the west, and they are all great people and have done very well for themselves and I am so very proud of them. Then mostly through it all they turned out wonderfully and we not just love one ano...Expand for more
ther, but that we are very great friends, have family holidays and even hang out together are so blessed. Teachers: I had many favorite Teachers,Most are no longer with us. If I won $100 million, I'd give to the needy for health, home and food. then some of it to people that have less than I do, then spend the rest on My children, Grandchildren and finish my homes. My first Marriage was like living in a dorm and most everyone lived there. While in college I lived at home. I am truly happy where ever I am at, but Having everyone else be happy , loved ,and safe would be the answer. My current age is 52. When I was 12, I thought that people my age now were older than dirt. I was so completely wrong. First crush/future husband material As I have mentioned I went to school at East Mountain ,I lived in Seven Pines population:12 ,slim pickings so had to get that tagged/claimed at an early age, I didn't have a clue there were more people on the earth or that there were other places, but my first pick..... He was in our local government for a few years.from the 1st thru 4th grades we were engaged(ha) I am not sure if he knew it or believed it since girls have cooties at that age.I had brains, but when they closed East Mountain School, we had to call it off because I went to school in Gilmer and he did not.!Oh the agony of it all. My best friend would tell you I'm kind, but people who do not know me very well would probably describe me as really kind.Ha! I am really,,,,, I share my home with My children, and pets, which I find is the reason I have so many houses, I do not find the need to brag about what I have had on my matel. It couldn't hold all of them anyway to many to mention.again Ha! Ha!,but not really. Do Overs: Do overs would change life as I know and love, but if I could I would remove the heart aches so many of the people I've know and love, and of those we've all lost. In 10 years, I hope to be still here, and hopefully, I'm going to get there by keep doing what I'm doing. First best friend: we lived in East Mountain and probably thouht that we would live and die there as well. We were next door neighbors. But My Gr-Grandparents owned a little gas station and I took a bag of candy to school everyday to share with everyone at recess,I might of been used, but everyone enjoyed it.You have alot of friends when your handing out the candy, but when you don't something they want,it makes you wonder were all those dear ole candy eaters went.Ha!But my real best friendwas and still the sweetest person in the world even without the candy. ReUnions:(I can hear the whispers already) Reunions-how great that would be, sugguestion: Invite everyone and have a wonderful time and enjoy seeing those whom you haven't seen . First Job: My first job was at The Pit grill in Longview at 13, where I got paid $1.00 an hour plus tips . What I remember most about it is My Grandmother and great Grand mother were my co workers and could stay awake from 10 at night to 6 . That I was very loved and taken care of and had the pleasure of learning many valuable lessions from my Gr-grandparents that not only were right, but that have served me quite well. I am still loved and very blessed. Words of wisdom: Be kind to all, for you never know who might be your boss one day. Wish for fellow classmates: That your always blessed, your always loved, your never alone, and having one you will have all three, and if you were shallow ,that you grew out of it. I wish you love and happiness. forever, Karen Hudson
