Karen's Story
Workplace
After high school I was married to my boyfriend and oldest son's father from Caldwell. John was in the Air Force so I worked odd jobs in the Tacoma area where he was stationed. When we seperated (and later divorced) I went back to school and began my nursing career. I had my second child by then and worked evenings and went to school in the day. I attended school in Indiana. However, A family crisis required me to move back to Washington where I met my second husband and continued working odd jobs until I had my third son and moved to Portland, Oregon where I worked for over 5 years as a Hallmark Manager and assistant manager in a retail gift store. and occasionally (during holidays especially) I worked two or three jobs to support my husband and children. So, I divorced again and met my current husband, a truck driver, and we moved to Phoenix, Arizona bought a house and I currently work as a Nanny for a little girl (nice since I never had a daughter).
Military
I enlisted in the Army at the age of 35 after raising my children. One of which I had while I was still in high school. Unfortunately during basic training at Fort Jackson, South Carolina I injured my hip and was discharged (after almost finishing training). My husband however, was (once a marine always a marine) a marine stationed in Saudi Arabia in the late 80's early 90's.
