Karen's Story
Life
After graduation and college, I got married in 1986 (to Andy Brito) and had my first child, a boy, in 1986. His name is Adam. I worked at two oil companies, took some time off, did hobbies such as singing with the community choir, bowling, and theater. Working with the theater group helped me to land a job with the federal government. I have worked at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center in good ole' Artesia, NM, since 1991. I had my second son, Nicholas, in 1992. During that time I discovered I had lupus. This disease has been interesting in all the different symptoms and problems it can cause. It is currently in remission, yeah! My job at the FLETC has been working with the Immigration Service as a training technician, secretary, and back to training technician. t some very interesting people. I worked for the Department of Homeland Security on detail to the Federal Air Marshal Service. I then lost my job because I did not accept a directed reassignment, but I was picked up three months later back at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center. I lost my father in 1995 and just lost my beloved mother in June of 2004. I just lost my biological mother in October of 09. My oldest son graduated college in May of 09 with a degree in Radiology Technology. He is currently working on getting another degree in Electronic Engineering. My youngest son is a senior in high school and will graduate May of 2010. (Boy do I feel old!)
College
I graduated with an A.A.S. degree in 1985 from Eastern New Mexico University-Roswell. I have taken several courses over the last few years and still plan on getting my bachelors and masters degree.
