Karen's Story
Life
I married a man I met just after h.s. graduation. We've been married almost 45 years . He is a 1963 graduate of Duarte High School and a 1967 graduate of Cal State Long Beach. We have four beautiful daughters. #1 is Korean, a lawyer (U of M, USC), married to the Asst. Chair of chemical engineering (U of M, CalTech) at Georgia Tech. #2 is a Ph.D clinical psychologist (U of Toledo, Georgia School of Professional Psychology) who married David Rodrigues May, 2007 (2 M.S in International Econ U of Iowa; Project mgr Ernst & Young) and giving me my first grandson, Alex, who just turned 17; #3 is an accountant (Baker College) for Jones, Lang, LaSalle, married to a great guy, Bryan ( plant mgr. at GM) living here in Michigan. In 2009, I welcomed my grandchildren, Hunter Stephen 4 lb 12 oz. and Isabella Jeanne 3 lb 12 oz on June 13, 2009. We are expecting our fourth grandchild in May.
I taught as a special ed teacher consultant for 30 years with a Ph.D in education of the blind, and endorsements for learning disabilities, reading, physically and otherwise health impaired, mentally impaired. I am a certified Braillist through the Library of Congress and a certified Braille proofreader, also through the Library of Congress. I also coached swimming, diving and synchronized swimming for 12 years.
We've had a multitude of cats over the years the oldest living to 16 . My dog Zac is now 11 and still thinks he's 2 and he is the joy of my life.
My twin Mike is the grandfather of 10 and living in Bakersfield and retired from Kaiser Permanente in Dec 14, 2014. He worked very hard but is learning to relax and even swear now and then. Then he is finally leaving California and going to Arizona, he hopes.
I found our biological family in 2004 and they are wonderful people giving us 4 brothers and sisters, 12 nieces and nephews and a multitude of grands. It's been great.
