Karen's Story
Life
I got married in 1988,and had two children (a daughter born in 1989 [TEN months after our wedding] and a son born in 1991). I teach preschool and I love it! It may seem odd considering my 'shop' was commercial art, but I use what I learned from Mr. Yeatman every day (bulletin boards,classroom signs,decorations, etc.)
For several years my family and I volunteered for Basset Rescue of Old Dominion - BROOD for short - and BassetC.A.R.E.. It is amazing how poorly some people treat their animals, and equally amazing ...Expand for more
how resilient those animals are.
Both of my children are now off at college. My daughter is local at Virginia Wesleyan College in Virginia Beach (she lives on campus, even though it is only 10 miles away) and my son has started his first year at Florida Institute of Technology in Melbourne, Florida. I would say that I have 'empty nest syndrome', but with four dogs and two cats I can't really say that my house is empty!
My husband of 21 years passed away December 11, 2009. He is buried in Arlington National Cemetery.
