Karen's Story
Ok this is a bit wierd but here goes. I graduated in 62 - went to work for a military defense contractor - married - had a son, divorced and moved to Hemet, CA. Worked in Banking and real estate sales/development. Married again to a man who had two kids so we have three now - yours and mine. we had a son now have yours, mine and ours - moved on in separate ways, divorced and moved to San Diego. Worked in real estate for a bank and got involved in the legal end - back to school for real estate law, contracts, etc and got involved enough to get really interested in property management. Remarried to a career military (navy - airdale) man who spent a lot of time at sea. Had another son. Moved to Norfolk Va for a couple of years and moved back to San Diego. Stayed in real estate - management and contracts. Retired in 07 - planned on spending time with 5 kids and then 7 grand kids. Now have eight grand kids, three great grand kids. Also am raising three more kids - neices and a nephew -
eldest just graduated from HS and is going on to college. Been really involved with boy scouts (natural with 4 sons and 4 grandsons). I garden, quilt, sew, cook and love the Chargers - have traveled to almost all of the pro ball stadiums - and a couple of super bowls - again a natural with all the males in my life. Somewhere along the way, thanks to the youngest son, got really interested in lacrosse - still involved in youth lacrosse, pop werner football and watch baseball - again a couple boys played little league.
I have a dog and a cat - used to raise birds - cockatiels. I love to camp on the beach - usually Camp Pendleton - my old surfing grounds - in the days when the beach head was off limits but the best surfing around ...Expand for more
getting chased out of the waters by patrol boats - now you can surf there all you want-spend a lot of time in Yosemite - usually for a music festival - used to camp but now hotel it there. Just got back from Laytonville = Kate Wolf Memorial Music festival - Hit Texas every couple years to visit family there - Dad was a Texan for those of you who remember my dad - the Air Force was his passion - so grew up all over the world - Remember England during the Berlin Airlift -yea we were stationed there on a RAF base - dad was comm control for the airlift operation and then to a base in Texas and then moved on to the Pacific - mostly the Phillipines. moved to Sacramento where I finished elememtary and junior hi and started HS - moved to San Bernardino in my Junior year - started at SBHS just after Christmas - Had a 44 pontiac - candy apple red/with silver metalflake underglaze - customized condition yeah did it myself Dad made me take apart and rebuild the engine as a condition for getting my drivers license- (tires were a bear 600/16s took almost 3 months to find 5) but cruzed E with the rest of them. Lived on 9th just off E= Those were the days - what I would give to have that ole car back and spend one more Fri/Sat nite on E with the guys (I remember I used to get S--t= its a girl a lot!) Think we did some dragging too - I had a vacuum overdrive that kicked a-- and left a lot of those supped up mercs looking at my tail lights. Must have belonged to a moonshiner cause the tire well was huge and under the spare you stash away a couple cases of beer and I never got carded so I was pretty popular at the parties at lytle creek. There is a ton of other stuff, but time constraints and public airways leave a lot unsaid.
