Kari's Story

When I think about where I have all been since high school it blows my mind sometimes. I have done many things some really good things and some maybe not so good things. But I did learn alot from the times I have screwed up. I have been divorced twice which obviously says that I didn't make very good decisions in the relationship department. But I am now married to a wonderful hardworking man that I love very much. I moved from Denison in 1984 to Utah. Nothing against Utah, but, if I had to go to Nevada I would drive around Utah to get there. Not good times in Utah! But I did learn alot from the things that I went through there. I then ended up back in Iowa in 1993. Unfortunatly the bad thing in Utah followed me there and I ended up marrying him which was a huge mistake. He began driving truck so I was fortunate to get to see most of the United States but then he quit. He never did like working so after 15 years I left and moved to Nebraska to be near my sister and my parents. After some time on my own I met my current husband. . He is wonderful and treats me right. We have lived in Gothenburg for 6 years now, he went to school to become an electrician and will be a journeyman later this year. I love my job and our kids! Life is good. The one person from my past who I'd most like to see again is Cindy Sproston, because we had the best times in high school. I LOVE football, college, pro it doesn't matter. I've learned that kids today get too many days off through the year and have way too many recesses. They get away with alot more . They can have pop and gum in class what the hell is that all about? If I won $100 million, I'd give a quarter of it to charity, then spend the rest on a new home, my kids education and something special for my parents. I did go to college for a semester right after high school but I learned I wasn't there to learn,,,,,just to party. Then I went to college for another semester in Utah for logistics and criminal justice and did very well but couldn't afford to go anymore at that tim...Expand for more
e. My current age is 46. When I was 12, I thought that people my age now would be practically in the grave!. I was so completely WRONG!. After working all kinds of jobs ie; factory work, data entry, office jobs I finally found the job I have been being groomed for my whole adult life. I am a Community Support Coordinator working with people that have mental illness and or substance abuse issues and help them live as independently as possible. It is a great job and very rewarding for the most part. My best friend would tell you I'm funny, but people who don't know me very well ....I don't really worry about what they think....life is too short. I wear business casual for work but at home it is blue jeans or sweats and tshirts and tennis shoes (I'm all about being comfortable) I share my home with my husband and two sons, which I find creates WAY WAY WAY to much testosterone.. In 10 years, I hope to be doing what I am doing or maybe go back to college...to become a therapist. The oldest friend that I still am friends with to this day I met right before I graduated in 1983. She lived above the guy I was seeing at the time in Denison. We don't see each other often but talk on the phone and it seems like we can always pick up right where we left off no matter how long its been....thats a true friendship. My first job was at Lil Duffer, where I got paid minimum wage (i think) to work lol. What I remember most about it is we had a blast and I loved working the drive thru window.. I think about my days in high school sometimes.... I remember having great times....outrageous times! I wonder where everyone ended up and what they are doing now. There are some things that I might do different if given the chance but I believe there is a reason for everything. I believe that I had to go through certain things to be able to do what I am doing now. I hope everyone I ever knew in high school is doing well and doing exactly what they want to be doing with their lives. I had great times back then....I had great friends too ... the best!
