Karl's Story

Life Born in Tallahassee, Fl. 1958. Lived in Florida for a few years then my parents moved to New York City. Lived in NYC for several years, moved back to Florida for awhile and was enrolled in boarding school (Green Valley) in Deland, Fl. Stayed in Deland for a few years and, about 1972, went to the New York campus of the school (Buck Brook Farm), just outside of a tiny little town called North Branch, NY. Stayed there until about 1974 at which time I returned to Florida to live with my mother in West Palm Beach. Attended two high schools in West Palm Beach, Palm Beach Preperatory School and then, senior year in The Classroom Academy. Worked for a year or so in West Palm Beach then enlisted in the Army. Trained, as a RADAR technician on the Nike Hercules guided missile system, in Ft. Bliss Texas. Stationed in Dexheim, Germany for 2.5 years, then back to Ft. Bliss where I finished out my tour working at White Sands missle range. Discharged in 1982, spent some time traveling around the country and eventually moved to Los Angeles Ca. Hired on with IBM, in Los Angeles, and have worked for IBM from 1982 to the present (god...has it really been that long?????)as a technical support specialist. Worked for IBM, in Los Angeles for 14 years. Married (Ana), inherited 3 boys and had one of my own (all great kids!!!). Was involved in the music business, in LA, for some 12 years. Did some work as a keyboard player, composer, arranger. Eventually partnered with several folks in a recording studio in Orange County. Dis that, on the side, for several years untill IBM asked me to relocate. Company relocated us to Macon, Ga. in 1995. Lived in Macon Ga. untill 2002 (had our little girl during that time) at which time IBM again relocated us to Salt Lake City, Utah. pport specialist/large customer service manager for a major account. Still have a basic home recording studio, have built a small woodworking shop where I build various pieces of furniture etc. Got into photography while I was stationed overseas and have pursued that ever since. My work with IBM has allowed me to do a good bit of work with PC's, servers and networks. I enjoy home theater, have a killer home network setup...streaming audio or vidoe to the home theater or anywhere else in the house. A great surround sound system (the sub reaches down to 16hz and when I put up Master and Commander, the cannon shots shake the house! Needless to say, the wife loves me for this!!!! (Yeah right!)....we'll, if she does'nt, at least I know the kid's do! Workplace My worklife can be catagorized into 3 basic groups. 1. After high school, screwed around, spent most of my time partying (dont remember much of that), some of my time working various jobs (dont remember them either). 2. Enlisted in the Army in 1978. Trained as a RADAR technician. Spent about 1.5 years in Ft. Bliss Texas, and 2.5 years in Dexheim Germany. 3. Discharged from the Army (honorably...believe it or not). Hired into IBM, in Los Angeles, in 1982. Have worked at IBM to the present (2006). Now in Salt Lake City Utah working as technical support specialist and large account service manager. Military Enlisted in the US Army in 1977. Basic and AIT training at Ft. Bliss Texas. Advanced training as an Aquisition RADAR tech in the NIKE Hercules guided missile system at Ft. Bliss Texas. Stationed at Dexheim , Germany from approx 1978-1980. Re-assigned to Ft. Bliss texas as Range RADAR tech from mid 1980 till discharged in late 1981. Aquaintances I remember from Dexheim are..
