Karla's Story
College
I received a B.A. degree from the University of Iowa in 1984. I then took a break and went active duty Air Force while continuing to take classes when possible and received an A.S. degree in Avionics Systems Technology from Maxwell, AFB. I Attended Weber State University from 1997 until 2001 and graduated with a double major in Zoology (biology) and Psychology. I immediately attended Physician Assistant school at Des Moines University Osteopathic Medical Center and graduated in 2003. I look forward to working on my Master's degree in the near future.
Military

Duty Air Force in the 343rd Maintenance Squadron Eielson AFB, AK as an avionics technician on A-10's from Jan. 1987 to June 1990. I also spent time in the Maintenance Operations Center while stationed at Eielson. I then went into the reserves at the 917th Fighter Wing Barksdale AFB, LA Dec 1991 - June 1996 avionics on A-10's initially and then on B-52's. I transferred to the 944th FW Luke AFB, AZ June 1996 to Feb. 1997 on F-16 avionics and then moved to the 419th FW Hill AFB, UT Feb. 1997 to Nov. 2003. I then transferred to the Iowa Air National Guard where I am today working F-16's.
