Karol's Story
Life
After high school I attended 4 years at Texas A&M and earned a bachelors degree in computer science. I currently live in Flint and work as an IT team leader at Trane. I'm married and have 2 children, ages 24 and 21. We now have 2 dogs, a lab/husky mix and a German shepherd, and 2 cats. For fun, I teach exercise classes (step aerobics, Zumba, and sculpt/ bootcamp/ whatever I feel like) at the ETMC Olympic Center here in Tyler. Come try a class some evening!! I'm there on Monday and Tuesdays. I've also earned a 2nd degree black belt in Isshinryu karate, although our dojo closed and I have not started up with another instructor.
I'm proud to say my daughter was the 2008 valedictorian at East Texas Christian Academy and graduated from Texas A&M in 2012. Another Aggie in the family - Whoop!! My son is studying criminal justice and plans to apply to the Tyler police academy.
Aug 2011 - I'm sad to report we recently had to say goodbye to our dear lab, Hunter, after 12 wonderful years of friendship and love. He was a gentle soul who gave us his complete love and was a blessing in our life. It was hard to let go. We're now at 1 dog and 4 cats. "Little Girl" wandered into our lives and decided we were good people so she adopted us.

re Department recognized his 40+ years of service by providing an honor guard during the family visitation and during the service. Two fire trucks escorted him to the cemetary. They played Amazing Grace on the bagpipes and rang the bell for his passing. The fire chief presented my mom with an American flag as a final recognition of his service. It was a beautiful tribute to his life.
April 27, 2012 - I've now lost my dear friend Brandy - our 13 year old German Shepherd. Anyone who knows me well knows I've always had a great love for German Shepherds and Brandy was my precious companion. She "protected" me - no threat there btw - while I worked out in the flowerbeds each weekend. My heart is broken but I know time will lessen the ache. I was blessed to have such a sweet tempered, gentle friend in my life.
We've since adopted 2 more dogs, both from the DFW german shepherd rescue. Sabrina is a fiesty lab / husky mix filled with all kinds of attitude. And she's quite a hunter these days. The neighborhood is minus multiple squirrels and birds. And Lexi, a full blooded GSD that started life pretty rough but now has a happy place to stay forever.
Life goes on. After 29 years at Trane I made a job change in April 2014. I'm now working at Stemco in Longview in the position of IT Director for Software Development. It's an exciting opportunity with many challenges that I look forward to.
