Karyn's Story
Hey everyone,
Since school I've gone through a lot of changes. I was just getting into the local band scene when we were in our senior year. After school, I actually worked for a management company and worked with many of the local acts in Detroit. I obviously got over my shyness!
In 1992, I went to Mardi Gras in New Orleans and had an absolute blast. The following year, I decided to move to the Big Easy and live with my oldest brother, Wayne. New Orleans was wonderful and I had a great time living there.
In 2002, I met my husband and by the end of 2004 I had gotten married and had moved to Fort Polk, Louisiana. That was truly a culture shock because I had always lived in big cities and Fort Polk has nothing worth talking about for an hour in any direction.
I moved to Lake Charles, Louisiana in the fall of 2007 and I enjoyed being back in a decent sized city, not to mention I was much closer to Houston, Texas. Unfortunately, my husband and I decided to divorce and that was finalized in May, 2009. I decided to make a move for a bigger city in 2010 and headed to the Austin, TX area. I'm hoping to sell and make another move to TN in the next 6 months.
As for work, I've done so many different jobs it's crazy...I think my favorites were working with animals. Anyone that was close to me in school knows that I've always had a place in my heart for animals. My first job out of high school was at Grosse Pointe Animal Clinic on Kercheval. Since then, I've volunteered at the Aquarium of the Americas in New Orleans (working with all the birds, including penguins), I've managed 2 veterinary clinics and I've worked as a Zookeeper in Alexandria, Louisiana. At one time I was the President of the Pre-Vet Club at the University of New Orleans and was working toward becoming a veterinarian, but lost my way with the deaths of my brother Wayne and my dad. I regret not getting my degree, but my heart was no longer in it.
Well that's about it for me. I'm on the book with a face, but changed my first name on their to Kay. I hate the whole "Karen" thing and have found alot of our old classmates there. I'd love to catch up with everyone and maybe even make some new friends. I'll be letting this lapse in the coming month, so come find me.
