Kate's Story

After Wash, I headed to Northwestern to study music. My intention was to switch to my "real degree" after a time, but the music thing worked for me until I was done. Junior year, I met my husband on a blind date. After graduation, we married and moved to Indianapolis. I got involved with the music scene, performing with the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra, the Indianapolis Opera Company, taught some singing lessons and joined the Max Murphy Singers at Aire Born Studios. 10 year reunion saw me great with child- although Sarah Williams beat me for most pregnant!) Ken's job took us overseas to China (Guangzhou) for three years (2004-2007). Fortunately, music teaching and recording English are very portable jobs. I had a great time mangling Mandarin and meeting new people. At present, we're back in Indy! I've been singing at Aire Born again (and loving it!) and continued teaching voice lessons. I'm grateful for all the amazing things we've gotten to see and do; and happy to be living in the land of the free again!
