Kathelyn's Story
Life
After graduation, I moved down to Phoenix, Arizona to attend DeVry Institute of Technology. Phoenix has been my home since then. I graduated from DeVry in 1986 with a BS in CIS and currently work as a Senior Computer Programmer/Analyst. Dan and I married in 1986 and divorced in 1995. We have one daughter, Kelli, who was born in 1991. Dan relocated to LV, so Kelli commutes frequently to LV to visit him.
Currently, Kelli and I keep very busy with several activities! Kelli is very active in church, gymnastics and participates on the Spirit-Line at school (their school mascot is the Eagle!). During the summer, Kelli is a member on the swim team, which she loves very much.
My after-work activities include participating in our RCIA church group, PTO, and recently joined our HOA! When not involved in these activities, Kelli and I enjoy scrapbooking, playing on the computer and the local Craftmart together!
Life has been good to us. I am so thankful for my many wonderful blessings and friends. My life has turned out so much differently than how I imagined it would. We have been truly blessed!
College
I attended DeVry Institute of Technology from 1983 - 1986. I graduated with a B.S. in CIS. That was a tough school. You learn four years of curriculum in 2 years-8 months (9 trimesters). I worked full-time and went to school full-time. I have so many memories from those days (and nights, too!). On thing about Arizona back in those years was that the drinking age was 19...need I say more!?!? Those were some crazy times! All I can say is that I am so glad that college is over! That was tough. jobs that the possibility of me having to go back to school to learn a different profession is very likely. Right now I am considering getting a law degree. I'm sure this would surprise many people who knew me when....plus, the people who know me now!!!!
Workplace
As I mentioned in my Bio, I moved down to Phoenix after high-school graduation to attend DeVry Institute of Technology. I graduated in 1986 with a B.S. in CIS and currently work as a Senior Computer Programmer/Analyst. My first job out of college was with Intel, where I worked there two years before they relocated to Folsom, California. From there I went to work at PCS, a pharmaceutical payment processing company. I quit there to become a stay-at-home mom, which I did for 4 years! During that time, I tried Direct Sales for Princess House Crystal company. I gave in-home demonstration parties and loved it! I won several all-expenses paid vacations and many prizes! Dan and I went to San Francisco for New Years, I took my mom on a Caribbean cruise, won a second Carribbean cruise for just myself, and won a trip to Ixtapa, Mexico! Following this, I decided to go back to programming. I worked at American Express for the Y2K project! That was a great place to work! Currently, I am working for CDI doing off-site work for Honeywell MS&S Aftermarket. I just made my three years on Oct. 15th! If it wasn't for the OSC class that I took during my Senior year at FWHS, I would not be where I am today. I would bet my teachers from OSC would be pretty surprised to see where I'm at today because of their influence in my life. Life surely works in mysterious ways!
