Katie's Story
Life
Am now living in Scotland with husband, James, and daughter, Emma Caitriona.
How did I get here? Well, after High School I moved to Germany for a year where I attended the Robert-Bosch-Gymnasium in Langenau (German High School), then returned to Wisconsin to study at the Universities of Wisconsin - La Crosse and Madision, but after 1 1/2 years of study, I dropped out of college in order to move back to Germany again for over a year because I wanted to experience LIFE. While in Germany I taught English to Adults (at Coca-Cola) and lived in a fabulous international student hostel with people from all over the world. Ironically my best friends were Scottish, Irish, English, French and Spanish, and because of several of my friends I started to develop a strong fascination with Scotland. Ironic, eh? But eventually I ran out of money and reluctantly returned to Wisconsin in order to complete my degree in German at UWSP.
In 2001 I then met the love of my life, James, and moved in with him - in Glasgow, SCOTLAND, as he is a nice wee Scottish Laddie ;o) In Scotland I started working on a postgraduate degree in German and at the same time have been enjoying life in this big city.

James and I were married in a private ceremony at Castle House in Dunoon, Argyle. We then went on our Honeymoon in the Hebrides (Western Isles off of Scotland) and on April 16th 2004, we had our first daughter, Emma Caitriona (pronounced same as Katrina) Emma is now both Scottish and American.
College
Graduated Summa Cum Laude from UWSP in spring 2001 with a BA in German with Cultural Studies. During my time in Stevens Point, I was inducted into the National Collegiate Foreign Language Honor Society of Alpha Mu Gamma (2001), inducted into the National Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi (2001)
received the Peter Kroner -Outstanding German Major award
(2001) and also received the Joseph & Margaret Schmauss Scholarship for Excellence in the Study of German (2000). I also studied at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse where I began studying International Marketing with a minor in German but eventually transferred to UW-Madison in order to major in German. I then completed my studies in Point where i was also enrolled in their School of Education, however I chose not to complete the teacher's training because I knew at the time that I'd be moving to Scotland and chose to do Postgraduate studies instead.
