Katherine's Story
Life
Elementary School - Park School (now Nelson Mandella Park Public School).
During my school years, I was known as Kay Kizoff. We lived a few doors away from Park School. My sister, Vera, went to Park for a few years, until we moved to East York in 1951. My brother, George, went to school in East York.
-----------------------------------
Employed at Salada Foods, or, Salada, Sheriff, Horsey, as it was called when I started working there in 1958. It was located at 855 York Mills Road.
We had lots of fun at Salada. There was a big party every year, during which employees got to put on a terrific show! The leader of our pack was Dave Shirriff (known as 'Davey the Sheriff", in one of our skits. I have some racey pictures around here! If you worked at Salada Foods and remember those times, I would be glad to hear from you.
---------------------------------
My husband, Bob Gill, and I were married in 1964, and divorced ten years later. We had two children, boys. Our elder son, Jason Christopher, died in an auto accident when he was 22, in 1989. Our son, Jordan, turned 40 on February 1 2009.

Teamster's Union, Local 938
My employment at the Teamster's began in 1966 and ended in 1974.
What an eye opener! It was an interesting place to work, es...Expand for more
pecially in a Union environment.
Can't say I was impressed with the "Union" process.

Metro Toronto Police Service
I was an Auxiliary Police Officer from 1980 to 1992. It was lots
of fun and I met some great people.
The best parts of the job were doing the parades (particularly the
Santa Claus Parade. I did tours of 41 Division in Scarborough, and was part of 4 District's Crime Prevention Unit.
I enjoyed the revolver training. My best result was the first time out - 462 out of 500. It never happened again so, of course, I framed my target!
It was a very positive experience, and, after twelve years, I decided to leave.
------------------------------------
R&R
Listen to Classical, Jazz (Diana Krall), New Age (Enya), music. I like to do Jigsaw puzzles. The one I am working on now has 1,500 pieces. It's driving me crazy. I like to watch crime/dramas on TV. See movies occasionally. Saw Iron Man - enjoyed it immensely.
I was part of an ethnic quintet, from the late 1950's to 2000. We made a L.P. in 1961 and put in on CD in 2000.
All for now.

(or Kay Kizoff, back in the 50's and 60's)
I always wanted to be a pilot when I grew up. My family and friends thought that was a dumb idea. As it turns out, they were probably right..
