Kathi's Story
In 1976 I headed east and found myself living in the Dallas Metroplex. Living in the big city fit me just fine until I found out that I was a country girl at heart.
Moved outta town and onto a farm with my husband and 3 kids. We became of "Ole' McDonald Family", complete with all of the barnyard animals. I spent alot of time riding horses, gathering eggs and and chasing kiddos.
My husband John was killed in 1991 and the kids grew up and began families of their own.
So now, here I am, single, BamMa for 6 of the greatest kids on earth, living close to Lake Texoma. I work in the healthcare industry as a "Volunteer Manager". Life is good!
Blowing off steam is easy when you are a grandma. Just hanging out with the grandchild will turn that billowing steam into a bubbling smile.
One of the wildest things I did in school was to spend time running thru the sprinklers at night across the street from my house. In fact, I ran thru a few years ago and by golly it was still great fun!
My hero would be my grandmother, Katherine Wilhite Thrash. I always remeber the story of the girl who cried cuz she didn't have fancy shoes, until she saw the man who didn't have any feet.
One person I would love to see again is Andy Garcia. i always thought he had a great smile.
I share my life with my German Shepherd Maggi. As long as she has a tennisball, live is grand.
My biggest surprise in life came wrapped in a pink blanket and weighted in at a little over 7 pounds. She calls me "PamMa" and looks lik...Expand for more
e me.
I own 5 acres of land in North Texas and I have always loved sitting on the deck and watching the horses. My greatest dream would be to build a log cabin, with a loft and a wrap around porch on that piece of land. And I would love to have someone to share that dream with.
As a parent, I have learned that anything you say, good or bad will always come back to bite ya. I learned that it is important to live life like you mean it as it can be changed in the blink of an eye.
If I could see one teacher again it would be Mr Harrington, history teacher from Monroe. I always remeber the story of the tornatoe that cause a cow to have a board sticking thru it's side. I live in what they call "Tornatoe Alley" and seen many things and quite a bit of damage, but have never seen that ole' cow.
If I won the lottery, there are many ways that I would like to spend it. But I believe one of the first things I would do is build Home Hospice a bigger office. I am tried of lack of space.
I believe that true happiness can happen anywhere. You just have to decide just how precious life can be.
My curent age is 52. When I was 12 I thought that was accient. Boy, was I wrong.
I can't really say that I work hard. I enjoy what I do so it is almost a pleasure to go to work and create our volunteer program.
The weirdest job I had was working at a cattle action. It was hot, it was stinky and i got fired!
Life is what you make of it. Make each day count, as it can be gone in the blink of an eye.
