Kathi's Story
Life
Life is always interesting, changing, veering off in indistinguishable patterns. However challenging or exhausting, even when I find myself, wistful, longing for a little more monotony from day to day, I look back with changed eyes, upon each of these stressful periods and think, "You know it wasn't that bad, bring it on." My little angles Jennifer, 7 and Mathew, 5.5, are growing up so quickly. In their eyes I see the most revealing tangible representation of my life before and after, the growth, the struggles, the laughter, the smiles that stretch on for days or weeks at a time, and ultimately the arrival at something I never recognized before them, as unconditional love that knows no ceiling. Unlike anything I had experienced before, this love refuses to cater to any circumstance, it exists beyond the ineffectual words I'm grasping for at this moment.
Presently, I am working at a nursing home as a nurseÂs aid, assistant managing a store and studying biochemistry and an assortment of other stimulating subjects, the latter, more of a hobby ...Expand for more
or maybe better described as an incessant drive for stimulation of any kind. The biochemistry stays neatly tucked away into a predictable, formatted program of study, each semester dictated and followed, while my extracurricular endeavors tend to take off in any direction, with me hanging on for the ride.
Aside from my academic pursuits, I enjoy creative writing mostly non fiction essays and poetry. I still play soccer when I have a chance, but nothing very competitive. I've developed a passion for computers and the many possibilities and have started writing some "baby" programs, and of course, music....MUSIC...writing songs and dabbling in the guitar has been my major focus over the last 5 years, I still sing but usually only to myself, or the neighbors on the other side of my thin apartment walls. Occasionally my friend drags me to a karaoke bar or an open mic night. My knees clap together keeping time, but after that first song I find myself itching for more. A lofty dream, I know, but it's comforting through the occasional bouts of insomnia.
