Kathleen's Story

I should start out by saying that I was Kathleen Kinney or Kat while at Shepherd High School. A little history. After graduation from Shepherd High School in 1988, I attended CMU for 1 semester. In February 1989 , I married Brian Krueger of Weidman. We lived in Mt. Pleasant where our son, Forrest, was born in June of 1989 and our daughter, Kellea, was born in August of 1990. We moved to Remus in 1996. We home schooled our kids through 8th grade then enrolled them in Chippewa Hills High School. Our family was active in children's community sports (t-ball, baseball, softball, soccer, rocket football and rocket cheer. Our family was also active in 4-H is both Mecosta and Isabella counties. In Isabella county the kids did all kinds of activities including arts, crafts, public speaking, creative writing, and raising rabbits to name a few. My daughter rode horses in speed, English, western, and saddle seat through Mecosta 4-H starting 2001. While in high school my son played baseball and football and excelled in creative writing. My daughter was part of the equestrian team, a cheerleader, ran cross country and track, and excelled in art. Both of the kids were officers in NHS and Kellea was active in student council. Forrest graduated in 2007 and went off to Western Michigan University for Aviation. Kellea graduated in 2008 then enrolled in University of Michigan Flint after 2 years she transferred to CMU to be closer to home. I was there driver, tutor, and cheerleader. Brian worked at CME Corp in Mt.Pleasant for 10 years and has been at Dow Chemical since 2000. I worked part time at the Meijer Photo Lab and as a cashier at Fate's Market in Remus for brief terms and extra income. In 2006, I enrolled in...Expand for more
MMCC where I earn my Associates of Art in Visual Art Decemer of 2007 and Associates of Applied Science in Graphic Design May of 2008. My father passed away during my final exam week. That summer I enrolled at CMU to finish to work towards my BA. In September, we lost Brian's dad and the nicest person I have ever met. I worked part time at Fabiano Brother's and at the Midland Community Center while I was in college. I graduated from CMU with a BAA in Art in 2D Art in December of 2011 with minors in Media Design Production Technology and a minor in Entrepreneurship. My concentrations were Photography with additional courses in graphic design, photojournalism, advertising and marketing. My mom developed cancer in July 2011, had successful surgery in Oct 2011, started chemo December 2011, fell and broke both legs above the knees Jan of 2012 and finally seemed on the road to recovery in the spring of 2012. She was able to attend Forrest's wedding in May and was looking forward to going home in the near future. The first week of July she died from heart failure before she was well enough to return home. In June of 2012 I started working part time as a photographer at TMP, an e-commerce merchandising and marketing company in Battle Creek. I stayed at my son's house during the week and went home on the weekends. In January of 2013, after 23 years 10 1/2 months my marriage ended. I became full time at TMP in April of 2013 where I continue to improve my skills in photography and e-commerce. I continue to do freelance photography, digital editing and graphic design through my business Kathleen Krueger PhotoGraphics. My current goals: become healthier, improve job skills, grow my freelance business and travel.
